Naina Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh
Naina Devi temple (1100 meters Above MSL) , one of the most important Shakti Peeths of India, is situated in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is believed that at this place both the eyes of devi sati had fallen on the earth. Raja Bir Chand got this temple constructed in the 8th century.
As the temple is situated on the hill top and it commands a grand view of the holy Anandpur Sahib Gurudwara on the one side and the Gobind Sagar reservoir of the Bhakra Dam on the other side.
The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Bhagwati ( Durga). The Goddess Naina Devi is worshipped as a single self born pindi. There is another pindi of Ganesha and a third established by the Pandavas.
Devotees in great number visit this place during Navratras and on Ashtami (Eight Day ) of the month of Shravan.
