Kali Mata Temple Kalka
Kali Mata Temple is located on National Highway 22 at Kalka city. This ancient temple is dedicated to Kali Devi and is famous as a Hindu pilgrimage site. There is a huge crowd during the Navratri festival. It is very popular among the Hindu pilgrimage places of the region.
This temple has not only religious significance but also has mythological significance. This temple belongs to the Mahabharata period. It is believed that the Pandavas built this temple during their ‘unknown’. Goddess Shakti is worshiped along with Lord Shiva. This goddess is also called by the names Durga, Kalika, Chandi, Naina, Mansa, Sharda, Ambika, Kali and Bhavani.
Kalka is one of the gateways of Himachal Pradesh. It is 14 km from Chandigarh. It is the last broad gauge station. The kalka Shimla narrow gauge railway track starts from Kalka The name of this city is derived from this Kali Devi temple itself. There is a small market outside Mata Kali Devi temple where you can buy household items made of stone and it is a good example of handicraft.
