Mohali Cricket Stadium was earlier known as Punjab Cricket Association Stadium. It is one of the largest stadiums in India. This magnificent stadium, built in 1993, is lashed with world-class facilities. There is a big place for practice and around 45 thousand people can sit and enjoy the match. The Mohali cricket stadium is also counted among some of the finest places in the state to trained cricketers.

The first international ODI between India and South Africa was played during the Hero Cup here on 22 November 1993. After this, in December 1994, the first Test match between India and West Indies was played here. Today this stadium is the home ground of IPL team Kings XI Punjab. This stadium located at mohali which is 8.5 km from Chandigarh main city and it takes 15-20 minutes to reach the place.

Nada Sahib Gurudwara is a religious place of Panchkula, situated at the foothills of the Shivalik Hills on the banks of the Ghaggar River, 15km away from the city. This Gurudwara is very famous among the Sikhs. According to historians, Guru Gobind Singh stayed here after defeating the Mughals in the Battle of Bhangani in 1688 with his companions. It is said that one of the followers of Guru Gobind Singh, Nadu Sah, had welcomed the victorious warriors at this place and also received the blessings of the Guru. This is the reason why this gurudwara was named after Nada Shah. Thousands of Sikhs come to this place on the full moon day of every month and for them this day is not less than any festival.

Structure of Nada Sahib Gurudwara

The Nada Sahib Gurdwara has changed a lot in the past, now the original Manji Sahib has been converted into a two-storey dome building; it also has a large rectangular meeting hall. Also, there is a very big complex in which there is a living room for the Guru’s langar and pilgrims. Every day religious gatherings and community meals are held in this gurudwara. Also, the full moon that comes in every month is celebrated as a festival. People come to this gurudwara in large numbers from all over India.

Although all the festivals are accepted in this gurudwara, but the festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with great pomp in Nada Sahib. Here, a large number of people come to visit every festival. This festival is filled with new joy. On the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi, people from all over India come to pay their foreheads and offer prayers to Waheguru. In this gurudwara people ask for a vow for happiness and prosperity.

The Cactus Garden at Panchkula is the largest garden in Asia with a large collection of rare and endangered species of cactus. Cactus related to common development and generation are kept here. Some species of cactus such as Opensia, Ferocactus, Aegves, Colossal Cactus, Acinocereus and Memilaria etc. can be seen in this garden. The National Cactus garden and the Lush Botanical Garden and Research Center are located in Sector-5. Dr. JS Sarkaria was the chief architect of this garden. He donated a large collection of juicy plants and cactus to this garden. The educational department has a collection of Bonsai.

The purpose of this garden is to save and preserve the endangered species which are being well maintained. The genus Carelluma is a hawthorn of Indian origin whose entire collection is available in this garden. More than 2500 varieties of cactus and juicy plants are available here.

Botanists and travelers who have special attachment to cactus come here. Their medicinal properties also attract tourists a lot. The Cactus Show is held every year in the month of March. At this time, tourists come from all over the country. There are nine glass houses in this garden. Plants are also sold here.

International Dolls Museum Chandigarh

International Dolls Museum Chandigarh

The International Dolls Museum located in Bal Bhawan of Sector 23 is operated by the Indian Council of Child Welfare, Chandigarh. It was founded in 1985 with a focus on children’s entertainment. It has an interesting collection of dolls and puppets. These dolls belong to more than 25 countries including Germany, Spain, Korea, Denmark, Netherlands and Russia. There is a separate section for Indian dolls. The dolls in it are wearing traditional costumes from different states. The dress of these dolls is such that it looks like the story of a legend, which is the biggest feature of this International Doll Museum.

There is also a toy-train for entertainment, from which you can roam different sections of the museum. Although this museum is open seven days, but due to the holiday on Sunday, a large number of children come here. Although there is nothing special here for the elders, still you can roam it if you want.
