Atal Tunnel Rohtang

Atal Tunnel built under the Rohtang pass in Manali is an engineering marvel built at an altitude of 10000 feet and nine kilometers long to provided all weather connectivity to places beyond Manali as Rohtang pass remains closed for more than six months in a year due to heavy snowfall. The tunnel was inaugurated on 3rd October 2020.  Atal Tunnel is the longest highway single tube double lane tunnel above 10,000 feet (3,048 m) in the world. The tunnel reduces the travel time and overall distance between Manali  and Keylong on the way to Leh and Laddakh by three to four hours.

Atal Tunnel weather and temperature

Atal tunnel is colder than Manali as its altitude is high. Warm clothing is required at this place except in summer months of May and June. The weather may change suddenly and temperatues may fall in Summer months also.

Is Atal tunnel open Today

All efforts are put by the BRO (border roads organization) to keep this tunnel open all the time as it is an all weather tunnel. But due to heavy snowfall and slippery roads in winter months the Atal Tunnel may remain closed for civilian traffic for a few days

There is no permit required to visit Atal Tunnel as it is an all weather highway tunnel. But online permit is required to visit Rohtang Pass

The Atal tunnel length is more than 9 kilometers and takes about 15 minutes to cross this tunnel.

A black stone statue of a sage wearing a dhoti is located inside the temple. The Manu Temple is a prominent temple located in the Old Manali region which attracts millions of tourists from all over the world every year.

History of Manu Temple Manali

The Manu Maharishi Temple is dedicated to the great sage Manu. According to Vedas and scriptures, there is an old belief here, according to which there was a sage named Manu who was the first man in the world. Whose father was the creator of Lord Brahma. Local people here believe that Sage Manu’s footprints remain inside the temple and which the sage tells the impression of Manu’s first step. Apart from all these, the old belief also states that when the sages came to the earth at the time of creation he did the first spiritual practice here.

The best time to visit the Jogini waterfall is between the summer season (March and May) and during the winter (October and February). It has a pleasant temperature throughout the summer. It is pleasant to visit the waterfall in both the seasons.

Hidimba Devi Temple is located in Manali in Himachal Pradesh. It is an ancient cave-temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi or Hirama Devi. The Hidimba temple in Manali is made of huge cedar wood. Its pride is 400 years old.  It is an ancient cave temple, dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, the wife of Bhima of the Indian epic Mahabharata. This temple is a four-storey structure situated in the middle of the forest. Being situated in the hill station, a large number of tourists gather here to see this temple during the snowfall. You will be surprised to know that no idol of Goddess is installed in this temple, but the footprints of Hidimba Devi are worshiped in Hidimba Devi temple.

History of Hadimba Devi Temple

Hidimba continued to perform austere penance by sitting on a rock to erase his demonic or demonic identity. After many years of meditation, her prayers were successful and she had the distinction of being a goddess. In honor of the austerity and meditation of Hidimba Devi, this temple was built on top of this rock by Maharaja Bahadur Singh in 1553. The temple is built around a cave. After the temple was built, devotees started coming here to worship Hidimba Devi.

Fair And Festivals

Every year in the month of Shravan a festival is organized in the temple at the Hidimba Devi temple. It is believed that this festival is celebrated in the memory of Raja Bahadur Singh who built this temple. which is called Bahadur Singh Ray Jatar by the local people. Apart from this, on May 14, another fair is organized on the occasion of Hidimba Devi’s birthday. During this time local women celebrate with music and dance in the Dungri forest area. Another fair is organized in the month of Shravan which is known as Sarohani Mela (Sarrohani Mail). Apart from this, Dussehra Festival is also organized in the temple during Navratri, in which a long line of devotees is engaged for darshan.

Timing

The temple remains open throughout the week and is not closed on any day. There is no fee for entering the Hidimba Devi temple. The temple opens at 8 am and closes till 6 in the evening. You can spend as much time as you want here.
