Journey from Delhi to Shimla by road is a 10 hour journey by bus and 8-9 hours by your own vehicle, 7 hrs from Delhi to Chandigarh and 4hr from Chandigarh onward to shimla. The main points between Delhi and Chandigarh by road are Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Pipli, Kurukshetra, and Ambala and after Chandigarh are Panchkula, Pinjore, kalka, Solan, Shoghi, Taradevi and finally Shimla. From Delhi till Ambala is NH 1 journey and from Chandigarh to Shimla is NH 22.

In just half an hour you will reach the Solan bye pass. Further about 10 km you reach Kandaghat. Here one route goes to Shimla and other route to Chail.
